Then they doubled the price to $24 after a couple years (and were bought out by LogMeIn) without adding functionality. They managed to have an enormous security breach. I started paying for it for extra features back when it was $12 a year. Is this just going to be a game where we all switch to Bitwarden, then in a year or two someone buys them, then a year or so later they begin restricting free and making changes, then we all switch again?Īside from the pricing, what is the big draw for Bitwarden? I see everyone on here hyping up Bitwarden. As you can see, I am not familiar with the product category because I don't use it. Exact same story as every other offering out there, including LastPass. The database is cached in the installed version of the app/plugin, so if the server if offline/unavailable you can still pull up your managed passwords. And you try to log in to your firewall but - the ISP is down and you can't reach your password manager? Or do I not understand the concept? It's an emergency. This is the only way I'd use a password manager - hosted on site and under my control. There are certainly very viable alternatives out there as others have mentioned. I'm not going to fault them for it if that's the direction they wanted to go. Do I understand this correctly? Within a day of this notification, all the non-paying users have left the LastPass site?
